A time-tested lawncare equipment brand, Agri-Fab always strives to be the best. When their market share was threatened by similarly styled competitors, they turned to CHOi Design for help innovating. Collaborating with Agri-Fab’s talented engineering team, we created a revolutionary product and changed the way lawncare is treated. Our goal was to design a spreader with unique, recognizable styling that was modern – yet robust enough to endure a long lifespan in harsh climates. The patented smartSPREADER led to the development of an entirely new line of Agri-Fab “Smart” products that revitalized the lawncare market.

CHOi Design completed extensive market research, gathering information on Agri-Fab’s competitors, and comparing features and characteristics of existing lawncare equipment. We conducted usability studies, as well as cost and part strategy analysis, to reduce manufacturing and shipping costs, while retaining easy assembly.

Our product development focused on a new hopper design. With a larger capacity and wider opening, users could complete tasks without having to constantly stop to refill. The exposed tube frame showcased the ruggedness and durability of the product with bold color and material breaks.

The broadcast spreader’s large capacity and open mouth help users pour contents, like seeds, more easily. Its large capacity also meant it could finish large jobs with fewer refill breaks, while the exposed frame showcased ruggedness and durability. The easy-set flow control with adjustable stop allows you to apply the precise amount of product to your lawn. The lock and unlock feature on the Agri-Fab smartSPREADER helped prevent contents from getting into unwanted places, such as flower beds or children and pet play areas.

Together, Agri-Fab and CHOi Design have created a versatile tool perfect for re-seeding your field, fertilizing your lawn, or salting large paved areas in winter.
